Weekend classes for adult brothers and sisters — from strengthening your reading, through the classical poems of Tajweed, to a full ijāzah in a narration of the Qur'an.
Five tracks. You are placed in the one that fits your level, and move up as you complete each stage.
Strengthen your recitation or continue your memorization. You recite one-on-one to the teacher and receive personal correction on your articulation and Tajweed.
Foundation. The poem of Sulaymān al-Jamzūrī: the rulings of nūn sākinah and tanwīn, mīm sākinah, and the types of madd. An ijāzah in the poem itself is available on completion.
Intermediate. The classic of Imam Ibn al-Jazarī: articulation points (makhārij), the characteristics of the letters (ṣifāt), and the finer rules of precise recitation. An ijāzah in the poem itself is available on completion.
Advanced. The masterpiece of Imam ash-Shāṭibī on the seven canonical readings, covering both al-Uṣūl and al-Farsh. An ijāzah in the poem itself is available on completion.
Reciting the entire Qur'an to the Shaykh in a chosen narration — Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim or another — and receiving a connected chain of transmission back to the Prophet ﷺ.
Two different things are called an ijāzah, and it is worth being clear about which is which.
You memorize the poem — Tuḥfat al-Aṭfāl, Al-Jazariyyah, or Ash-Shāṭibiyyah — recite it to the Shaykh from memory, and are tested on your understanding of its rules. This certifies the text itself.
You recite the entire Qur'an, cover to cover, to the Shaykh in that narration. Studying a poem is not a substitute for this — the full recitation is what earns the chain.
Students must complete their ijāzah in Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim before beginning any other narration. Once that foundation is in place, any of the other narrations may be taken up.

There is no fixed enrollment schedule — classes run every weekend and you join when you can, progressing at your own pace.
The rules are taught to the whole class, verse by verse from the classical poems, with examples drawn straight from the Qur'an.
Within the group class, recitation is individual — you wait your turn, then recite directly to the teacher and receive personal correction.
